Moodbidri, Jan 31: Kannada limericks award winner H Dundiraj has been selected the chairman of the first All Karnataka Beladingala Sahitya Sammelan to be held here from 6.00 pm on Monday February 9 to 6.00 am on Tuesday February 10.

It will be held as part of the decennial celebrations of Gramotsav by Kurpady Yuva Vranda, which has organized nine Gramotsavs in the surrounding villages here, thereby providing a platform for rural talent regardless of caste, creed, and religion.

Dundiraj is considered to be the king of limericks owing to his distinct style and humour. He was born in Hattikudru, a remote village in Kundapur taluk, on August 18, 1956. He is serving as the chief manager of Corporation Bank, at their head office in Mangalore. He is an accomplished poet, dramatist, and writer.

Dundiraj has penned several poems and articles that are published and sold in great numbers. The CD’s and VCD’s of his poetry, devotional music, and limericks are popular among his ever growing fans.

‘Soojimallige’, an anthology of short poems that were published in ‘Vijaya Karnataka’, Kannada daily, on every Tuesday, is eagerly awaited by his loyal readers.

He has bagged several honours including the Karnataka Nataka Academy award, Kannada Sahitya Academy award, All India Radio award, Aryabhata award, Kadengodlu poetry award, Muddana poetry award, Kundaprabha Ko Ma Karant award, Vishveshwarayya award, Bhargav award, and has also chaired many limerick conferences.
